Lankan Tamil Crisis: India's Role
We all know about the recent crisis in Sri Lanka. After years of fighting finally LTTE is cornered and is about to meet its doom. I would commend the courage the Government of Sri Lanka has displayed in the ongoing efforts to rout the terrorists from their land.
But what is happening back in India. Political parties protesting actions against the LTTE. Sri Lanka is a sovereign country and its Government is responsible for the safety and well being of its people. Who are we to protest their actions? Have we done enough for the people in India.
A terrorist has no religion, no caste, no morality. Anyone siding with one should also be a terrorist. We saw the images released by the SLAF drones. LTTE taking the Tamils hostage as they prepare to take on the SL Army, the same Tamils for whom they were supposed to fight. And our honorable leaders down south feel for the Tigers. Our leaders have lunch with Prabhakaran, speak openly about their support to a well known terrorist. What they do not understand is that without collateral fight against terror is not possible. It is this sacrifice that lays down moral courage for the next generation.
In this time of crisis, India should support Sri Lanka getting rid of the LTTE. Instead of the odd blame game and political gimmick, its time for the politicos to support the Tamil cause and not let any one terrorist take the world hostage.
