July 4th Long Weekend...

Friday: Early from office, to be early on the trip. However things get delayed and delayed and delayed. What was supposed to start by 1900 hrs, started close to 2230 hrs for me. Saptanshu, Sandeep and myself, we set out to New Jersey, our revered Bhabani Bhai's place. Long drive, we reach by 0100 hrs. Just in time to gather our feet and take rest. Its going to be a long one.

Saturday: First thoughts were DC, Philadelphia, etc and etc. Second thoughts sun bathing at the community pool. Third and final thoughts: hit the beach. So off we go to the Belmar beach. Pit Stop: Walmart. To buy supplies, enough to last the beach extravaganza. Second Pit: Pick up Mohit bhai jaan, a common friend. And off we go. Beaches are always fun. And when you get inside neck deep and still able to play throwball, even better. Swimming in the Atlantic, getting photographed doing so in a No Swim zone, et al. Even funnier to take a public shower before we hit the car.

Saturday Evening: Destination Edison, NJ. One place where you find a lot of Indians. Managed to get Biryani at one of the famous restaurants in NJ. And guess what, picked up gulab jamuns, jalebis. People suddenly wanted to eat paan. Gosh. Think of the atmosphere. Usual late one at Bhabani bhai's place and still planning of making that DC trip.

Sunday: Forget DC, plans changed to Six Flags Great Adventure park. What an experience... From the very first ride to the last one, we were on toes. Apart from a few hiccups in deciding whether to take the ride or not, things were crazy. From El Toro to Bizzarro, Kingda Ka to Nitro, each one shattered us more than ever. And the 4th of July fireworks at the park. All excitement came to an end when we literally crawled back to the car. Everytime the car took a turn, minds became afresh with the coaster rides... Mainly the scary ones.

Monday: Destination Philadelphia. Smooth drive to Philadelphia. Visiting for the second time in a span of a week. So was kinda guide for people coming in for the first time. The best part of the Philly visit: Lunch at an Ethiopian restaurant. What I ate was reminded me of Oriya pitha and chicken curry. And the tradition was to eat with hands. Really great. Loved the meal. Ode to the one who proposed it in the first place. Then begins the journey back home. I hate it, but all good things must come to an end for new ones to start. :)
